A group of 24 pupils under the age of 14, representing Kapchorwa Municipality from different primary schools have departed for the 2024 primary schools national ball games and special needs learner’s education, underway at Pioneer Primary School in Soroti City.
Kapchorwa district deputy RDC Martin Sakajja officially flagged of the team at the Resident district offices in Kapchorwa. A team of 9 teachers and other officials witnessed the event. The games will take 10 days from 25th August – 6th September, 2024.
Sakajja revealed that the team that set off on Sunday 25 August, 2024 comprises of 11 girls and 14 boys and they are optimistic that the pupils will ably represent the Municipality and are also expecting medals from all the games.
Kapchorwa Sports Officer Alfred Tunde on a courtesy interview about the flag off ceremony with this publication appealed to parents to continue encouraging their children to stay in school, where their talents can be recognized and supported by the government and other well wishers.
A total of 6,000 participants from across the country are expected in Soroti in games for different age categories ranging from U-11, U-12, U-14 to U-16. The championship is featuring various games, including football, handball, and volleyball, as well as events for special needs learners’ education.
