The Uganda Police force has issued traffic guidelines ahead of president Museveni’s visit to Sebei region scheduled for December 10, 2024.
Addressing the media at CPS Kapchorwa this morning, Amos Akamba, the Sipi regional traffic officer said they expect a lot of traffic these 3 days during the president’s visit to sebei region, i.e. Kapchorwa, Kween and Bukwo.
He has asked drivers, motorists and pedestrians to abide by the light of the way, “that when the President is passing, all vehicles and motorists must park and wait for the convoy to pass” for all the days he will be in the region.
He also urged pedestrians to keep right throughout because motorists will be keeping left. On the ongoing circumcision and cultural festivals, Akamba has asked the participants not to discriminate other road users and directed that these should be kept out of the highway for the three days of President Museveni’s visit to ensure proper flow of traffic. He advised them to use alternative routes specifically feeder roads instead of the highway.
Meanwhile, for parking of public vehicles, a specific place has been gazetted (for 3 days) within the municipality to avoid over crowding on the highway which would further disrupt traffic flow.
Akamba also warned on reckless driving, i.e. over speeding, unnecessary overtaking by both drivers and motorists. He advised that they should use moderate speed on the highway. Boda bodas who are not yet well polished to use the highway have been advised to stay at home for these 3 days.
President Museveni is set to visit Sebei sub-region in Eastern Uganda on his continued assessment tours on the impact and performance of the Parish Development Model (PDM) wealth creation programme among the citizens from December 10 to 12, 2024.
